Since arriving in Baltimore 20 years ago, Carolyn has developed a passion for community service and become a staunch advocate for all residents of our great city. Beginning as a volunteer speaker with Planned Parenthood of Maryland and eventually serving on the organization's Board of Directors, she has since gone on to volunteer with the International Rescue Committee, the Maryland SPCA, the Baltimore Peace Movement, Thread Inc., Ascension St. Agnes, and the Johns Hopkins Homewood Museum. She also served as a board member for the Original Northwood Association where she lived for 15 years. She graduated with honors from Towson University with dual degrees in History and Social Science. While at Towson University, she was honored with the Vice-President for Student Affairs Award for Leadership. Currently, Carolyn is the Director of Development for WYPR and WTMD, two of Baltimore's distinguished public radio stations. In her 7 years in this role, she has grown individual giving to the stations from a fraction of the operating budget to the largest single source of revenue for the stations. Carolyn and her husband, Brad Cardwell, live in Baltimore's Homeland neighborhood with their 3 year old daughter, Camilla, and their cat and dog.
