Tevis Simon

Tevis Simon is a Baltimore Maryland native and loving mother of one adult daughter and grandson. She received her call to mental health advocacy in 2015 as she battled with the acceptance of her mental health diagnosis. Deciding to become educated rather than afraid of her mental health condition, she became a public speaker, mental health mentor, peer recovery specialist and support group facilitator. Tevis is dedicated to her ministry, Walk by Faith Consulting, which supports mental wellness, assisting with recovery in mental health and substance abuse, and overcoming barriers to employment in addition to providing mental health presentations to families and organizations. She is the 2018 recipient of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Metropolitan Baltimore’s Royal Riddick Outstanding Volunteer Award and in 2019 she was inducted into the NAMI Hall of Fame for her work as a NAMI Connection Support Group facilitator NAMI In Our Own Voice presenter. She has also been recognized by political officials for her volunteer services in Maryland. Tevis is a member of several organizations providing trauma and mental health support to the residents of Maryland. She also shares her lived experience with elected officials and State and local law enforcement to assist in response and interactions with those that have mental health conditions.
